Husband Murders Wife Over Land Dispute

Banswara, May 29: A shocking incident has emerged from Banswara district in Rajasthan, where a husband brutally murdered his wife over a piece of land inherited from her father. The incident occurred on Thursday morning around 7:30 AM in the Nabi Pura area of the Kotwali police station jurisdiction. The accused husband attacked his wife with a metal rod while she was washing utensils, leaving her bleeding and fleeing the scene. The woman succumbed to her injuries before reaching the hospital. The police swiftly apprehended the accused.

Pressure to Transfer Land Ownership
The deceased, Itari Maida (32), had been married to Suraj Maida (35) for 18 years. Itari’s father gifted her a bigha of land at the time of their marriage, which was transferred to her name about six months ago. Suraj, who works in painting and decorating, had been pressuring Itari to transfer the land to his name, leading to frequent disputes between the couple.

Fatal Attack During Argument
On Thursday morning, the couple had a heated argument over the land. In a fit of rage, Suraj picked up a metal rod from their home and struck Itari on the head. Hearing her screams, her elder brother Gautam rushed to the scene and took the bleeding Itari to the district hospital, where she was declared dead by doctors. Itari leaves behind three young sons.

Accused Husband in Police Custody
Kotwali Station Officer Budharam Bishnoi reported that the police acted promptly and detained the fleeing husband, Suraj. The body has been placed in the mortuary of the district hospital. A report from the maternal side and legal formalities will be completed before the post-mortem of the body. Further legal action is underway in the case.
