Woman Constable Found Dead in Government Quarters

Pratapgarh, May 29: A shocking incident occurred in the Chhoti Sadri police station area of Pratapgarh district on Thursday morning when the body of a woman constable was found hanging in a government quarter. Colleagues went to check on her after she failed to report for Eid duty and did not respond to calls. Upon finding the door locked from the inside, they broke it open and were stunned by the sight inside.

Superintendent of Police B. Aditya confirmed the deceased as Constable Shom Kanwar, 26, daughter of Kushal Singh, a resident of Varmandal in Pratapgarh. She was stationed at the Chhoti Sadri police station and had been assigned duty for Eid. When her colleagues arrived around 7 AM, there was no response. Upon breaking down the door, they discovered her body hanging from a ceiling fan. No suicide note was found at the scene, and the police have called in an FSL team to begin an investigation.

According to reports, Shom was part of the 2022 batch of constables and had been serving at the Chhoti Sadri police station for the past year. She was the third among four siblings. Family members stated that she had spoken to her father over the phone on Wednesday night, and everything seemed normal. The police are currently investigating the case from all angles.
