
Pratapgarh, May 13: In a dramatic incident in Chaniyakhadi village of Pratapgarh district, villagers apprehended a young man who had broken into a house under the pretext of drinking water. The accused, along with two accomplices, attempted to enter the home of Rahul Anjana. When confronted by the homeowner, the suspect reportedly tried to attack him with a knife. Villagers quickly intervened and handed the accused over to the police.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon. According to investigating officer Mukesh Kumar, a water tap was installed outside Rahul Anjana’s house. Three young men arrived on a motorcycle and stopped to drink water. Noticing that no one was around, they attempted to enter the house.
Rahul Anjana spotted them and tried to stop them. While two of the suspects managed to escape, one was caught by Rahul. Realizing he was trapped, the accused brandished a knife and attempted to attack Rahul. However, the commotion attracted nearby villagers, who quickly apprehended the suspect.
The villagers tied up the accused and informed the police. Upon arrival, the police took the suspect to the Pratapgarh police station. During questioning, he was identified as Tejmal (22) from Malda, Madhya Pradesh. Police investigations revealed that the accused has a criminal record in Madhya Pradesh, including several theft cases.
Later, Malhargarh police arrived in Pratapgarh, and after necessary procedures, the accused was handed over to the Madhya Pradesh police. Following the incident, discussions regarding security have intensified in the village.
