Senior Assistant Arrested for Taking Bribe in Udaipur

Udaipur, May 13: In a significant operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a senior assistant from the State Insurance and Provident Fund (SIPF) department in Udaipur on Tuesday for accepting a bribe of one lakh rupees. The accused was demanding this amount in exchange for processing pending files related to the complainant’s provident fund and state insurance payments.

According to sources, the complainant had reported to the ACB that their payment-related work had been stalled for a long time, and the senior assistant was persistently asking for one lakh rupees to expedite the file processing. Following the complaint, the ACB verified the matter, confirming the demand for a bribe.

On Tuesday, as the complainant approached the accused with the agreed amount, the ACB team executed a planned trap and apprehended him at the scene. During the operation, the accused’s hands were washed, revealing a change in color, which confirmed the acceptance of the bribe. He was subsequently arrested.

ACB officials stated that the accused had been stationed in the department for a long time and had faced complaints regarding delays in file processing to exert pressure on individuals. Following the arrest, ACB teams are conducting searches at the accused’s residence and other locations. Investigations are also underway into assets disproportionate to known sources of income, bank accounts, and documents.

The ACB has recovered the bribe amount and has begun questioning the accused. The incident has caused a stir within the department, with the public viewing it as a significant action against corruption.
