Crackdown on Illegal Liquor in Rajasthan

Udaipur, May 24: In a significant move against illegal liquor production, storage, transportation, and sale, the Excise Commissioner Namit Mehta has initiated a special preventive campaign across the state. Effective measures including roadblocks, patrolling, and raids are being conducted to curb these activities. Various districts have reported seizures of illegal liquor, with cases registered against offenders. Notably, a major operation in Kota led to the seizure of English liquor valued at approximately ₹70 lakh.

As part of this campaign, from May 1 to May 22, 2026, a total of 1,535 cases have been registered, resulting in the arrest of 724 individuals. The operation has led to the confiscation of 5,914 liters of country liquor worth ₹15,87,525, 26,826 liters of Indian-made foreign liquor valued at ₹2,69,22,494, 19,363 liters of beer worth ₹43,54,823, and other illegal spirits. Additionally, 4,19,648 liters of wash have been destroyed.

The excise enforcement teams are actively conducting raids and checks across the state, including significant actions in Pali and Jodhpur, where large quantities of wash and illegal liquor were seized and destroyed. The campaign emphasizes a zero-tolerance policy against illegal liquor, with all excise officials and teams working diligently to enforce the law.
