Hindustan Zinc Signs MoU with Sulfozyme Agro for Sustainable Metal Recovery

Udaipur, June 11: Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and one of the top ten silver producers globally, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sulfozyme Agro India Private Limited. This agreement is part of Hindustan Zinc’s flagship Zinc Industrial Park initiative located in the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan. The partnership aims to strengthen India’s downstream zinc sector through sustainable metal recovery, resource efficiency, and innovation-driven industrial development.

Under this collaboration, Sulfozyme Agro will establish its proposed operations within the Zinc Industrial Park, focusing on processing zinc-based materials into value-added products for industrial and downstream applications. Hindustan Zinc will support this venture by ensuring a steady supply of raw materials and long-term ecosystem assistance, facilitating efficient operations, integrated supply chains, and large-scale manufacturing within the park’s industrial network. This partnership aligns with Hindustan Zinc’s broader vision of enhancing the downstream ecosystem by creating opportunities for industries, local entrepreneurship, and industrial development in Rajasthan.

The announcement of the Zinc Park was first made by Rajasthan’s Chief Minister, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, in December 2024 during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, alongside Vedanta Group Chairman, Shri Anil Agarwal. The initiative is progressing steadily through phased investor partnerships and strategic collaborations, reflecting Hindustan Zinc’s long-term vision to establish Rajasthan as a leading manufacturing hub for zinc-based industries and value-added products.

Developed in collaboration with RIICO, the Zinc Industrial Park is a dedicated downstream manufacturing center designed to integrate the availability of raw materials with value-added zinc production. By providing ready-to-use infrastructure, proximity to raw material supply, and an industry-centric operational environment, the park aims to attract zinc customers, processors, MSMEs, and downstream manufacturers seeking large-scale and efficient manufacturing opportunities in the zinc and related products sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Hindustan Zinc’s CEO Arun Mishra stated, “At Hindustan Zinc, we are focused on creating an industrial platform ready for the future, based on innovation, sustainability, and efficient resource utilization. Our partnership with Sulfozyme Agro reflects our commitment to strengthening the circular economy and promoting downstream value creation. The vision for the Zinc Industrial Park is to serve as a collaborative platform where companies can leverage Hindustan Zinc’s metal expertise, reliable supply chain, and manufacturing capabilities. Through such partnerships, our goal is to accelerate industrial development, support the growth of the ecosystem, and position Rajasthan as a leading center for zinc-based industries and advanced manufacturing.”

The Industrial Park is rapidly emerging as a catalyst for industrial development in Rajasthan by enabling downstream industries, promoting entrepreneurship, and creating specialized employment opportunities. This initiative, based on sustainability, principles of the circular economy, and the adoption of renewable energy, is designed to strengthen the value chain of India’s critical minerals and metals while aiding long-term regional economic development.

The MoU with Sulfozyme Agro further reinforces Hindustan Zinc’s focus on responsible manufacturing and downstream industrial expansion. As the company continues to forge strategic partnerships in innovation, efficient resource utilization, and clean technology, Hindustan Zinc remains fully committed to advancing sustainable metal production and contributing to India’s manufacturing growth.
