Outrage at Udaipur Hospital Over Delayed Arrest in Fatal Accident

Udaipur, May 13: Relatives and villagers created a ruckus outside MB Hospital in Udaipur on Tuesday following the death of a man in a road accident. The protest erupted after the accused driver had not been arrested, leading the agitated crowd to sit in protest outside the mortuary and refuse to take the body. After nearly three hours of demonstration, Girwa SDM Avula Saikrishna arrived at the scene and attempted to calm the crowd by assuring them of action.

The incident occurred on the main road of Siyalapura in the Sukher police station area. On the night of May 10, Nandlal Rao, a resident of Siyalapura, was returning home on foot when he was struck by a speeding black Scorpio. He sustained severe injuries to his head and abdomen and succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The accused driver fled the scene after the incident.

The deceased’s daughter, Harshita, stated that her father worked in horticulture at Vidyabhavan Polytechnic College and was the sole breadwinner for the family. Relatives alleged that even three days after the accident, the police had failed to apprehend the accused. In protest, villagers began their demonstration outside the mortuary.

During the protest, the crowd chanted slogans against the police administration, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. Around 1:30 PM, the SDM arrived and assured the family of a fair investigation, which helped to calm the situation. The police are currently engaged in searching for the vehicle and the accused driver.
