Udaipur, July 27: A historic moment of pride for Mewar arrived when Surendra Singh Devda won a personal gold medal in the 25-meter sports pistol event (Deaf Category) at the Jaspal Rana India Open Shooting Championship held at the Trishul Shooting Range in Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun. This was Surendra’s first participation in the championship, and his victory has brought recognition to both Rajasthan and Mewar on a national level.
Despite being unable to hear or speak since birth, Surendra Singh Devda has never allowed his circumstances to become a weakness. Through hard work, discipline, and relentless effort, he has achieved this historic milestone, proving that no disability can hinder the flight of determination.
Currently, Surendra is receiving regular training at the Mewar Rifle Shooting Club in Nathdwara under the guidance of international shooting coach Dr. Jitendra Singh Chundawat. The technical support from his coach, continuous practice, and dedicated training have played a crucial role in his success.
Coming from a modest background, Surendra’s father is an electrician, and his brother is an engineer. Despite limited resources, the family has always supported him and encouraged his dreams. Today, the result of that struggle is visible in the form of a gold medal on a national platform.
This achievement is not just a victory for one athlete but serves as an inspiration for all differently-abled players who dare to realize their dreams.
