
Udaipur, July 24: Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and one of the top ten silver producers globally, has reported an outstanding performance for the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27. The company achieved an operational revenue of ₹13,747 crore, marking a 77% increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, the EBITDA reached ₹8,074 crore, reflecting a remarkable growth of 109%. The net profit soared to a record ₹5,469 crore, up 145% year-on-year.
This impressive financial performance is attributed to the highest-ever zinc metal production of 268 kilotons (KT) and the lowest quarterly zinc production cost of $851 per ton. These results demonstrate the company’s robust operational capabilities, effective cost management, and competitive edge in the industry. Hindustan Zinc has solidified its position as one of the lowest-cost zinc producers globally, showcasing record profits, strong cash flow, and improved margins.
In leadership changes, Mr. Amarendu Prakash has been appointed as the new CEO and Whole-time Director of Hindustan Zinc, effective August 1, 2026. With over three decades of experience in the steel sector, Mr. Prakash previously served as the Chairman and Managing Director of Steel Authority of India Limited from 2023 to 2026, where he led significant initiatives in operational efficiency and digital transformation.
Mr. Amit Gupta has taken over as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Hindustan Zinc as of June 1, 2026. A Chartered Accountant with over 20 years of experience, Mr. Gupta brings deep expertise in financial strategy and corporate governance, having held various key positions within the Vedanta Group.
Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its ESG initiatives, which enhance operational resilience and ensure long-term growth. The Ramapura Agucha mine has become the first mine in India to receive the Zinc Mark certification, following Chanderiya.
