
Pratapgarh, May 17: A series of leopard attacks in Sevna village of Pratapgarh district has left the community in shock. On Saturday morning, the leopard struck multiple times, injuring five individuals who were working near a field and a temple. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital, with two reported to be in critical condition.
According to eyewitnesses, the attacks began around 8:30 AM while villagers were engaged in work near a drain. The leopard, which had been hiding in a large pipe, launched a sudden attack. As villagers raised an alarm, the leopard fled but continued to injure others in its path. The victims include Ramchandra Meena (60), Bansilal (26), Deepak Kumar (24), Heeralal (23), and Dilip Kumar (22).
Dilip Kumar, one of the injured, recounted that he was trying to save his friend who had gone to the temple to pray when the leopard pounced on him. Meanwhile, a team from the forest department has arrived at the scene to initiate a rescue operation. During this operation, the leopard also attacked a local villager named Kanhaiyalal who was assisting in the rescue efforts.
