Hindustan Zinc Celebrates World Environment Day with Tree Plantation Drive

Udaipur, June 5: Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company and the largest integrated producer of zinc, lead, and silver in India, celebrated World Environment Day by reaffirming its commitment to extensive tree plantation and environmental management. The company organized several impactful programs across all its operational units on this occasion, showcasing its strong commitment to sustainability and responsible workplace practices.

At the headquarters in Udaipur, employees actively participated in the Green Workplace Initiative. They demonstrated simple yet effective methods for the efficient and minimal use of resources in daily life. Additionally, a quiz competition was held to raise environmental awareness, alongside a tree plantation campaign.

The zinc smelter in Debari witnessed excellent coordination among various teams. Union leaders and senior officials shared their thoughts and guidance on collective responsibility towards the environment during the event. The ESG team outlined this year’s theme, key priorities, and the actions being taken to enhance environmental performance. A highlight of the program was the active participation of business partner employees from the shop floor, who shared insights on practical initiatives being implemented at the grassroots level.

Various activities were also organized at the Jawar Mines under the leadership of the headquarters. These included tree plantation and cleanliness drives, as well as creative competitions such as quiz contests, making bags from newspapers, poster making, and ‘Waste Out of Best’.

All these initiatives not only increased employee participation but also inspired innovation for environmental protection. This event underscores Hindustan Zinc’s ongoing efforts to integrate environmental responsibility as a vital part of its work culture and operations.
