Udaipur, May 20: In a shocking incident in the Falasiya police station area of Udaipur district, thieves targeted a house last night, making off with approximately ₹50 lakhs worth of gold and silver jewelry, cash, and rare old coins. During the robbery, the culprits locked the sleeping couple in a room to prevent them from intervening.
The victim, Sher Singh Shaktawat, reported at the Falasiya police station that he and his wife were in Udaipur for some work, leaving their son Hemendra Singh and daughter-in-law at home. The thieves entered the house through the back entrance late at night and broke into three rooms and cupboards.
The stolen items included a gold nose ring, necklace set, bangles, rings, and earrings, along with 2.6 kilograms of silver utensils, ₹1 lakh in cash, and rare coins from the year 2000. CCTV footage has emerged showing a young man walking on the street outside the house during the incident. Following the robbery, local residents expressed their anger over the lack of police patrols in the area, claiming that a significant shortage of staff at the Kolyari outpost has compromised security.
