Victim Finds Stolen Bike After Police Inaction

Udaipur, May 20: A recent bike theft case in Udaipur has raised serious questions about police efficiency. A young man, Abbas, whose expensive Bajaj Pulsar bike was stolen from the MB Hospital premises on May 10, took matters into his own hands after the police failed to act promptly. After reviewing CCTV footage and announcing a reward on social media, he managed to recover his bike 61 kilometers away in a dramatic fashion.

Abbas, a 25-year-old resident of the Navratna Complex in the Hathipol police station area, reported the theft immediately. However, instead of registering the case, police asked him to check the CCTV footage himself. Family members noted that the footage showed two young men breaking the bike’s lock and leaving with it. Despite providing this evidence, the FIR was only filed two days later.

Frustrated with the police’s inaction, Abbas’s family announced a reward of ₹5,000 for information leading to the bike’s recovery. On May 14, they received a tip-off about the bike’s location in the Bakeria police station area, approximately 61 kilometers from Udaipur. The following day, Abbas, along with friends, reached the location and, with the help of locals, dramatically stopped a jeep to retrieve his bike.

Despite the recovery, the family claims that the police have not shown seriousness in apprehending the thieves. Hathipol Station Officer Raju Devi stated that a team has been dispatched to search for the suspects and that the investigation is ongoing.
