Auction Process Begins for Water Resources Department Office

Udaipur, May 14: The auction process for the office building of the Water Resources Department in Udaipur has commenced, causing a stir within government circles. This action follows a directive from the Commercial Court due to the department and the state government failing to pay an outstanding amount of ₹2.21 crore despite a court order.

According to reports, in January 2023, the Commercial Court issued a decree against the Water Resources Department and the state government regarding the payment. The court had instructed the concerned parties to pay the specified amount, but after prolonged non-compliance, the court took a stern stance and ordered the seizure of the executive engineer’s office building. Consequently, the auction process has now been initiated.

During the auction, a large number of people gathered at the site, with interested individuals given the opportunity to place bids. The auction process was scheduled to conclude by 3 PM. As per the court’s directives, the entire process is being conducted under administrative supervision.

This action is being viewed as a significant example of negligence by government departments in adhering to court orders. Legal experts have stated that had the payment been made in a timely manner, the situation leading to the auction of government property could have been avoided. Throughout the day, discussions regarding the case circulated in the city, with the public expressing surprise at the necessity of including a government department’s office building in the auction process mandated by the court. All eyes are now on the final results of the auction and subsequent administrative actions.
