Udaipur, April 24: The Udaipur Range Police has initiated an innovative campaign titled “Cyber Shield” and “Life Protection Campaign – Towards a Safe Journey” to combat cyber crimes and enhance road safety. A workshop focusing on these issues was held on Thursday at the police lines auditorium in Udaipur.
The workshop was organized in collaboration with UNICEF Rajasthan, with Inspector General Gaurav Srivastava as the chief guest. Additional Superintendent of Police Harsh Ratnu presided over the event. IG Srivastava emphasized the importance of awareness as a preventive measure, drawing parallels to the lifestyle changes adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed that similar awareness is crucial to prevent cyber crimes and road accidents, urging the public to adhere to safety regulations.
During the workshop, Srivastava provided detailed information on the “Cyber Shield” initiative, which aims to educate citizens about digital security, protection against online fraud, and safe internet usage. He also highlighted the importance of following road safety rules, including the mandatory use of helmets and seat belts, avoiding overspeeding, and being responsible towards traffic regulations. He called upon every section of society to actively participate in this campaign to raise awareness.
The campaign includes an online quiz format, with certificates issued by the respective district Superintendents of Police upon completion. The aim is to engage students, police friends, safety companions, and youth groups to ensure that the public remains vigilant against cyber crimes and reduces road accidents. IG Srivastava urged citizens to follow rules not merely to avoid police action but for their own safety.
ASP Ratnu, in his address, noted that such workshops play a vital role in enhancing community awareness regarding safety. He encouraged all participants to remain vigilant and to spread awareness among others. UNICEF Rajasthan’s State Level Child Protection Advisor, Sindhu Binujeet, provided detailed insights into the digital links created for the campaigns and the technical aspects of the quiz.
Police officials, staff, and media representatives present at the workshop committed to raising awareness about preventing cyber crimes and ensuring safe traffic management. The event also received technical support from Dr. Chintal Patel of the Geetanjali Institute.
Representatives from the Rajsamand Cyber Cell, including Kherol Waseem, shared technical insights, while other officials from various police departments were also in attendance.
