Udaipur Police Launches Cyber Safety Initiative

Udaipur, April 24: The Udaipur Range Police has initiated a campaign titled “Cyber Shield” and “Life Protection Campaign – Towards a Safe Journey,” aimed at preventing cyber crimes and enhancing road safety. A workshop on these topics was held on Thursday at the police lines auditorium in Udaipur.

The event was attended by the Inspector General of Police, Gaurav Srivastava, who emphasized the importance of awareness in preventing cyber crimes and road accidents. He noted that just as society adapted its lifestyle during the COVID-19 pandemic, a similar shift is necessary to combat the rising incidents of cyber crimes.

During the workshop, IG Srivastava provided detailed insights into the “Cyber Shield” initiative, focusing on digital security, protection against online fraud, and safe internet usage. He also highlighted the significance of adhering to road safety rules, including the mandatory use of helmets and seat belts, avoiding overspeeding, and being responsible towards traffic regulations.

The campaign aims to engage various community members, including students, police friends, and youth groups, to foster a collective effort in raising awareness about cyber safety and reducing road accidents. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in an online quiz, with certificates issued by the respective district police superintendents upon completion.

ASP Harsh Ratnu, who chaired the event, reiterated the importance of such workshops in enhancing societal awareness regarding safety. He urged all attendees to remain vigilant and encourage others to do the same.

UNICEF Rajasthan’s State Child Protection Advisor, Sindhu Binujeet, presented a detailed overview of the digital links created for the campaigns, explaining the technical aspects of the quiz and the certificates issued to participants.

The workshop concluded with police officials, staff, and media representatives committing to the cause of preventing cyber crimes and promoting safe traffic management. Technical support was provided by Dr. Chintal Patel from the Geetanjali Institute.

The event saw participation from various police officials, including ASPs from Rajsamand, Salumber, Banswara, and Pratapgarh, among others.
