Udaipur Jail Attack Injures Four Guards

Udaipur, April 24: A sudden outbreak of violence occurred at the Udaipur Central Jail on Thursday during a routine search operation. Several inmates became aggressive and attacked the jail staff, resulting in injuries to four guards, including Deputy Superintendent Mohan Meena. One guard sustained a deep wound from a sharp object during the incident.

According to reports, the search was underway when 5-6 inmates became unruly. Inmate Sahil Ali attacked guard Shivcharan Singh with a sharp object fashioned from a utensil, causing serious injuries to Singh’s hand.

Deputy Superintendent Mohan Meena, along with Chief Guard Yogesh Kumar, Rohitash Jat, and Sawarmal, responded to the situation but were also assaulted by the inmates. The unexpected violence led to chaos within the jail premises. After considerable effort, the jail staff managed to subdue the attacking inmates and regain control of the situation.

Following the incident, a case has been registered at the Surajpol police station against five inmates—Sahil Ali, Jitendra Singh Huldani alias Surendra, Sanjay Kumar alias Bachiya, Vikram Kumar Jat, and Ramhari—based on a report filed by Jail Superintendent Achalaram. The incident has raised serious concerns regarding the security measures in place at the jail.
