Udaipur, May 13: The Excise Police in Udaipur’s Kherwada have made a significant breakthrough by seizing illegal alcohol worth ₹30 lakh from a truck container on the Udaipur-Ahmedabad Highway at the Khandi Obri toll plaza. Acting on the directives of Excise Commissioner Nameet Mehta, a special team stopped the suspicious truck for inspection. Initially, the truck appeared empty; however, a thorough search revealed a hidden compartment behind the wheel cap, containing 330 cartons of alcohol. The seized alcohol was marked ‘For Sale in Chandigarh.’
During the operation, the police arrested the driver, Masri, a resident of Porbandar. Records indicate that Masri is a notorious smuggler who was previously caught in March with 820 cartons of alcohol but resumed his illegal activities shortly after being released from jail. Excise Inspector Jitendra Singh Rathore, Rahul Sharma, and Head Constable Kailashchandra played key roles in this operation. The department is now working to trace the loading point of the alcohol and its delivery network in Gujarat.
