Udaipur, April 7: In response to the recent factionalism within the Udaipur BJP, Governor Gulabchand Kataria sharply criticized former MLA Dharm Narayan Joshi, referencing a decade-old video that has resurfaced. He stated, “Those who abandon the field after contesting one election should demonstrate the courage to stand with the public.”
Kataria emphasized that anyone serving the public must have the courage to remain among the people in all circumstances. He remarked, “Their pain lies elsewhere, yet they speak of it differently. Time is the only remedy for such ailments, which can heal even the most formidable.”
“The Public Will Judge Me”
Kataria asserted that it is the public who will evaluate his work. He mentioned that despite residing in Chandigarh, he remains actively engaged with the community and can present a complete record of his activities.
“I have prepared a detailed account of my visits in January, February, and March. Anyone can ask 20 people; I am consistently among the public,” he added.
“I Have 50 Years of Service to Account For”
Kataria noted that he has been active among the public for the past 40-50 years, and the work he has done during this time defines his identity. “I come from no affluent background and possess no vast wealth. I am an ordinary person, yet no one has been able to tarnish my reputation,” he stated.
On Social Media Comments: ‘Nothing Serious’
Regarding comments made on social media by former MLA Joshi and his supporters, as well as a letter sent to the President, Kataria mentioned that he did not take them seriously. “I do not criticize anyone, but if someone has a grievance, they should express it openly; solutions can be found,” he said.
“Winning and Losing is Part of Politics”
Kataria concluded by stating that winning and losing is a normal aspect of politics, but leaving the field is not appropriate. He shared that he too has faced electoral defeats but continued to strive. He expressed confidence that even after his term ends, his connection and service to the public will persist.
What is the Controversy?
A recent viral video on social media features former MLA Dharm Narayan Joshi allegedly making statements against Kataria. Following this, a close associate of Joshi wrote to the President, questioning Kataria’s tours in Udaipur and the use of government resources.
