The victim, identified as 41-year-old Durga Shankar Salvi, struggled in the water for approximately ten minutes, but bystanders merely watched without intervening.

According to Civil Defence member Kailash Menaria, the incident occurred around 7 AM. Durga Shankar had brought his sons, aged 10 and 14, to the kund for swimming lessons. While the children were swimming, he sat on the steps. Suddenly, he slipped and fell into the deep water.

Local residents expressed concern over the lack of safety measures at Gangu Kund, which attracts many swimmers daily.
