Udaipur, May 21: The Pratapgarh police have taken significant action against drug trafficking by freezing assets worth ₹1.05 crore belonging to notorious smuggler Lalit Anjana. The assets were reportedly acquired using money from drug smuggling activities.
Lalit Anjana has multiple cases registered against him under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act across various police stations in the state.
The police’s investigation revealed that Anjana’s network extended across several districts, including Jodhpur, Jalore, Pali, Sirohi, and Barmer. His arrest on April 25, 2025, followed a lengthy period on the run.
The breakthrough in the case came after the recovery of 343 kilograms of opium poppy husk during a police operation on September 30, 2021. The operation led to the arrest of another smuggler, Virendra Anjana, who was found to be connected to Lalit Anjana’s supply chain.
Following a thorough financial investigation, it was discovered that Lalit Anjana had purchased approximately 3.5 bighas of agricultural land in Baseda village, valued at around ₹1.05 crore, using proceeds from his illegal activities. The police have since frozen this property following court proceedings.
