Vedantas Ambitious Vision Unveiled by Anil Agarwal

Mumbai, July 15: Anil Agarwal, Chairman of Vedanta Group, presented an ambitious vision for Vedanta Limited during its 61st Annual General Meeting (AGM). Addressing the AGM, he emphasized that the company’s future will be based on three ‘P’s—Produce More, Partner Better, and Purpose Beyond Profit. Reflecting on the successful completion of the group’s historic demerger, he stated that each of the five independent companies—Vedanta Limited, Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited, Vedanta Oil and Gas Limited, Vedanta Iron and Steel Limited, and Vedanta Power Limited—has the potential to become a $100 billion company. Agarwal remarked, “A year ago, you were shareholders of a single integrated company. Today, you have five distinct opportunities. Very few corporate changes in the world have created such a significant opportunity for shareholders. And we believe this is just the beginning.”

Agarwal highlighted the record performance for the fiscal year 2025-26, stating, “This year we achieved the highest revenue of ₹1,74,075 crore and the highest profit of ₹25,096 crore to date.” Vedanta recorded an EBITDA of ₹55,976 crore for the fiscal year, with a net debt/EBITDA ratio of 0.95x, marking its best performance in the last 14 quarters.

Discussing the first ‘P’, Produce More, Agarwal outlined the company’s strategy for growth. He revealed plans to nearly triple zinc and lead production to 3 million tons by 2031, double silver production to 1,500 tons, and increase copper production to 1 million tons by the end of the decade. Additionally, he mentioned plans to enhance ferrochrome capacity to 500,000 tons and nickel production to 60,000 tons by fiscal year 2027-28.

He also noted that the company will accelerate exploration in ten critical and strategic mineral blocks, including lithium, cobalt, gold, copper, nickel, manganese, rare earths, and potash. Agarwal reiterated the expansion plans of the newly formed companies post-demerger, stating, “Vedanta Aluminium is an excellent company. In the next three years, we will increase its production capacity to 6 million tons per year while achieving the lowest production costs globally.” Vedanta Oil and Gas aims for a production target of 500,000 barrels per day, with a planned investment of $5 billion over the next 3 to 5 years. Vedanta Iron and Steel plans to increase its capacity from 4 million tons to 15 million tons per year, focusing on green steel and specialty steel. Furthermore, Vedanta Power has a clear roadmap to reach 20,000 megawatts and will also venture into nuclear power.

Agarwal described technology as Vedanta’s strongest partner, stating, “The future belongs to companies that embrace technology. Artificial intelligence is transforming industries worldwide. Technology is our greatest strength. Whether it’s exploration, operations, sustainability, safety, or productivity—we are rapidly leveraging technology in every aspect of our business. Our goal is clear—to become smarter, faster, safer, and better.”

Reiterating Vedanta’s commitment to nation-building, Agarwal stated, “This year alone, we contributed over ₹62,000 crore to the Indian government’s revenue. In the last ten years, our total contribution has been approximately ₹5 lakh crore.” He further highlighted Vedanta’s flagship social initiative, ‘Nand Ghar‘, which has reached 15,000 centers across 17 states, aiming to positively impact the lives of 100 million women and children nationwide. Concluding his address, Agarwal expressed gratitude to shareholders for their trust, stating, “Together, we have built a strong Vedanta. Now, we will collaboratively create five extraordinary futures. ‘Vedanta Unlimited’ symbolizes this vision. Your trust is our greatest strength.”
