Udaipur, June 30: Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc and leading silver producer, received six awards at the prestigious 30th Bhamashah Samman ceremony. The awards were presented to various units of the company, including the Rampura Agucha Mine, Chanderiya Lead Zinc Smelter, Jawar Mines, Rajpura Dariba Complex, Debari Zinc Smelter, and Kayad Mine, in recognition of their positive contributions to the education sector.
This marks the 11th consecutive year that the Rajasthan government has honored Hindustan Zinc for its transformative educational initiatives and commitment to quality education. Since 2017, the company has invested over ₹551 crores in various educational interventions, benefiting more than 200,000 rural and tribal children annually.
The award ceremony took place at the Birla Auditorium, with Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Baidya as the chief guest. He, along with Education Minister Madan Dilawar and Additional Education Secretary Rajesh Yadav, presented certificates of appreciation to 145 selected Bhamashahs and 99 inspirers from across the state.
Representatives from Hindustan Zinc, including Ramamurari, CEO of the Rampura Agucha Mine, Manisha Bhati, Environmental Head of Chanderiya Lead Zinc Smelter, and other key officials, were present to receive the awards.
Over the past nine years, Hindustan Zinc has invested more than ₹551 crores in social development through CSR initiatives in education, which includes ₹83 crores for infrastructure upgrades such as classroom construction, toilets, playgrounds, drinking water facilities, and electrification. The company has also launched programs like Nand Ghar for early childhood care, inclusive education for children with special needs, and initiatives to promote higher education for rural girls.
The impact of Hindustan Zinc’s educational programs is evident, with over 200,000 children benefiting each year. The school enrollment rates, particularly for adolescent girls, have significantly improved, with the pass percentage for Class 10 in Rajasthan rising from 47% in 2007 to 92.53% in 2026. Notably, schools associated with the Education Sambal initiative achieved a 100% pass rate.
In collaboration with the Rajasthan government’s education department, Hindustan Zinc has signed an MOU to invest ₹36 crores over the next five years to further promote educational development in the state.
In addition to education, Hindustan Zinc is also focused on uplifting rural women and farmers, promoting health care, water conservation, sanitation, infrastructure improvement, and sustainable livelihoods. Collectively, these initiatives have positively impacted the lives of over 2.6 million people across more than 4,000 villages.
