Oberoi, May 24: Dungarpur police have made a significant breakthrough in a shocking case of murder and sexual assault, arresting the main accused under ‘Operation Shikanja’. The accused, identified as Jivraj alias Jeeva (52), was apprehended in connection with the gruesome murder linked to a romantic relationship that dates back nearly 20 years.
Body Found in Drain
According to Oberoi police station in-charge Ramesh Katara, a mutilated body, estimated to be 4-5 days old, was recovered from the Decha drain on May 17. The victim was identified as Babli alias Santok Damor by her daughter based on her clothing and appearance. Given the seriousness of the case, Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar directed the formation of a special team to investigate further.
Murder After Assault
Investigations revealed that on May 14, the accused lured the woman to the Decha drain, where he sexually assaulted her. Following the assault, he brutally killed her by striking her on the head with a stone and strangling her. To destroy evidence, he then disposed of the body in the drain.
Confession During Interrogation
Utilizing traditional policing methods and technical investigations, police detained the accused from the Chitri circle area. During intense questioning, he confessed to both the murder and the sexual assault. The police have presented him in court and secured a two-day police remand for further investigation. The inquiry into the case is ongoing.
