Udaipur, May 17: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Udaipur has conducted a significant operation, apprehending Assistant Sub-Inspector Sunil Vishnoi of the Pratapnagar Police Station while he was accepting a bribe of ₹1,00,000. The operation took place in the parking area of Orbit Resort in New Bhupalpura.
According to Anant Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police at ACB, the incident stemmed from a minor altercation involving a complainant and a young woman. Taking advantage of the situation, ASI Sunil Vishnoi, along with Constables Shankarlal and Banwarilal, summoned the complainant to the police station, threatening him that a case of molestation and rape would be filed against him by the woman. Initially, the officers demanded ₹3,00,000 to settle the matter, which was later negotiated down to ₹1,30,000 after considerable pleading.
The victim reported the matter to the ACB. During a covert verification, the accused ASI accepted ₹25,000 as an advance and called the complainant to the resort’s parking area for the remaining ₹1,00,000 on Sunday. As soon as the ASI took the bribe, the ACB team, which had set a trap, apprehended him. The accused is currently in custody for questioning, and a search of his residence is underway. The involvement of the other constables in this case is also under investigation.
