Udaipurs Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon Sees Over 5,500 Registrations

Udaipur, August 7: The Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon 2026 is just a month away, with over 5,500 runners already registered. Scheduled for September 6, this year’s marathon promises to be even bigger in its third edition. The event aims to bring together professional athletes, new runners, families, students, and corporate teams under the theme ‘One Run, One Community.’

Organized by Hindustan Zinc Limited in collaboration with Anybody Can Run, this marathon is certified by AIMS and is affiliated with World Athletics. The route will take participants past Fatehsagar Lake, the Aravalli hills, and Udaipur’s historical landmarks, quickly gaining popularity among runners both nationally and internationally. The event is not just about sports; it also promotes social causes through the ‘Run for Zero Hunger’ campaign.

This year, over 800 participants have registered for the 21.097 km half marathon, while more than 1,500 have signed up for the 10 km Cool Run and over 3,200 for the 5 km Dream Run. Last year, the event saw participation from over 7,000 runners across 27 states and several countries. This year, an even larger number of national and international participants are expected, further solidifying Udaipur’s reputation as a premier running destination.

Udaipur runner Ashmika Sharma shared, “I have participated in the last two editions of the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon. Running amidst Udaipur’s lakes, historical sites, and the beautiful Aravalli landscape is a unique experience. I am excited to take part in the 21 km half marathon this year. For me, it is not just a run, but a celebration of the beauty, energy, and community spirit of Zinc City.”

The marathon will kick off from the Field Club in Udaipur. The 21.097 km route will pass through key locations such as Fatehsagar Pal, Rotary Circle, Sunset Point Park, Nehru Garden, and Saheliyon ki Bari. The routes for the 10 km and 5 km runs have also been designed with participants of all ages and fitness levels in mind. With pleasant September weather and improved arrangements, this event promises to offer participants a memorable experience.

American runner Amanda Daskolias stated, “I have been a sergeant in the U.S. Army, love to travel, and am a mother of three. For me, running has always symbolized discipline and perseverance. Being part of the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon is incredibly exciting. It will be a memorable experience to see and feel Udaipur in this special way. The route passing through lakes, the Aravalli mountain range, and the city’s rich heritage makes this marathon even more special. I am eager to experience India’s most beautiful marathon and run alongside participants from around the world.”

In addition to promoting fitness, this marathon is revitalizing Udaipur’s tourism and hospitality sector, benefiting local hotels, restaurants, transportation services, and business activities. Over the past two years, the event has played a significant role in establishing Udaipur as a major hub for sports tourism and experience-based events.

Registrations for the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon are currently open. Interested participants can register on the official digital platforms of Udaipur Marathon and Hindustan Zinc. Registrations will remain open until all categories are filled.
