Udaipur, May 31: Seventy child laborers rescued from Surat by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit are set to reintegrate into mainstream society. District Superintendent of Police Dr. Amrita Duhan visited the juvenile home in Chitrakoot Nagar on Friday to meet the children and hand them over to their families after counseling.
All the rescued children are under the age of 14 and were taken to Surat for child labor. Acting on a tip-off, the anti-trafficking team coordinated with Surat police to free them. The Surat police have also registered a case against the employers, which is currently under investigation. Dr. Duhan stated that the children were housed in the juvenile home in Udaipur, where their families were called in for counseling as well.
Efforts are underway to connect these children with education and various government schemes through initiatives by the police department, the Department of Child Rights, and NGOs. The Superintendent emphasized that child labor and human trafficking are serious social crimes, and strict action will continue against those involved in such activities. She urged parents to remain vigilant about their children’s safety and education. Present at the event were officials from the Department of Child Rights, the superintendent of the juvenile home, members of the Child Welfare Committee, and the families of the rescued children.
