Udaipur, May 31: The severe heat in Rajasthan, declining passenger numbers, and rising aviation fuel prices are beginning to impact flights at Udaipur Airport. Starting in June, IndiGo and Air India have decided to reduce the number of flights on several routes. Airlines state that the continuous increase in operating costs and lower passenger loads have made it necessary to cut back on flight schedules.
Currently, 14 flights operate daily from Dabok Airport, but this number will decrease by 2 to 3 flights starting in June. The most affected routes will be to Jaipur, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. IndiGo has implemented an alternate day schedule for these routes, meaning daily flight services will no longer be available. However, all four flights to Delhi will continue as usual.
According to sources, flights to Hyderabad will only be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays starting June 16, while the Bengaluru route will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Additionally, the schedule for morning flights to Jaipur will also change from June 17. On the other hand, Air India may reduce one flight on the Mumbai route starting June 1.
Rajesh Agarwal, Senior Vice President of the Hotel Association, stated that the reduction in air connectivity will adversely affect tourism, the hotel industry, taxi operators, and local businesses.
Impacted Routes:
- Hyderabad Flights: 3 days a week
- Bengaluru Flights: 4 days a week
- Jaipur Flights: Alternate day schedule
- Mumbai Route: One flight likely to be reduced
- Delhi Route: All flights continue as usual
