
Udaipur, May 31: Chaos erupted late Friday night on the Udaipur-Ahmedabad National Highway (NH-48) when unidentified miscreants began hurling stones at moving vehicles in the Kagdar area of the Rishabhdev police station jurisdiction. Approximately half a dozen vehicles were targeted, resulting in shattered windows and damage to the vehicles. The incident instilled fear among drivers and passengers traversing the highway. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, averting a potential disaster.
Stones Rained in the Dark of Night
According to reports, around 11:30 PM, some anti-social elements were hiding near a residential school close to Kagdar overbridge. They suddenly started throwing large stones at vehicles passing by on the highway. The unexpected attack startled drivers, causing several vehicles to narrowly avoid losing control.
Vehicle Owners Suffer Losses
The stone pelting resulted in the front and side windows of cars, trucks, and other four-wheelers being smashed. Many vehicles came to a halt in the middle of the road, causing inconvenience to passengers. Vehicle owners have also faced financial losses due to the damage. Drivers have called for increased security measures on the highway during nighttime.
Police Reviewing CCTV Footage
Upon receiving information, the Rishabhdev police arrived at the scene to assess the situation. They are currently reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras and working to identify the suspects. Station Officer Hemant Ahari stated that the investigation is ongoing, and the culprits will be apprehended soon.
