Udaipur, May 20: A proud moment for the city of lakes, Udaipur, as emerging kayaking athletes Kaniska Kumawat and Ayush Chaudhary have been selected to represent India at the Canoe Marathon World Cup 2026. The duo departed for China today, May 20, alongside the Indian team from Delhi.
Dilip Singh Chouhan, Secretary of the Rajasthan Kayaking and Canoeing Association, expressed that the selection of these athletes has created an atmosphere of excitement throughout Udaipur. Before their departure to Delhi, Divisional Commissioner Ms. Pragya Kevalramani and Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar extended their best wishes and blessings to the athletes.
Chandragupt Singh Chouhan, Chairman of the association, stated that this achievement is a result of the hard work of the athletes, coaches, and the association. He emphasized the need for a water sports academy in Udaipur, suggesting that with adequate resources, more athletes from the region could shine on national and international platforms.
Association President Bhagwan Swaroop Vaishnav described this as a historic achievement for Udaipur, noting that having two athletes from the same city selected for the World Cup team is a significant milestone. He remarked that Udaipur’s athletes have consistently performed well in national competitions and are now making their mark internationally.
Kaniska Kumawat and Ayush Chaudhary credited their success to the support of the association’s officials, coaches, and fellow athletes. They expressed gratitude for the technical guidance and assistance received despite limited resources. The farewell event saw the presence of several association officials, coaches, parents, and sports enthusiasts. Udaipur residents are hopeful that both athletes will deliver an outstanding performance at the World Cup, bringing pride to their city and country.
