Udaipur, May 12, 2026 — The busy Balicha Tiraha, one of the major traffic junctions in Udaipur, is set to get a major upgrade aimed at reducing congestion and improving road safety.

Udaipur Development Authority has started re-engineering work on the junction at a cost of Rs 6.81 crore. The project is focused on improving traffic flow at the Ahmedabad Road entry point to the city.
Officials said the redevelopment is being carried out in view of increasing traffic pressure in the city. The upgraded traffic system is expected to provide relief from frequent traffic jams for both tourists entering the city and local commuters.
Balicha Tiraha is considered a key traffic point connecting outer city areas, national highways and industrial zones. Thousands of vehicles pass through the junction daily, leading to heavy congestion, especially during tourism season and peak hours.
To address these issues, the authority has planned road widening, improved traffic movement, safer turning points and infrastructure based on modern traffic management systems.
According to UDA officials, the project was started on November 15 and is targeted for completion by September 14.
The redevelopment work will include lane management systems, safer road cuts, improved traffic signalling and enhanced road safety measures at the junction.
