Udaipur, February 19: The three-day ‘Ritu Vasant’ festival at the Western Region Cultural Centre in Udaipur will showcase the talents of Rajasthan‘s only Dilruba player, Mohammad Umar, who will perform alongside the celebrated violinist Gulzar Hussain. The festival, dedicated to classical music, will take place from February 20 to 22, and entry will be free for all attendees.
Director Furqan Khan of the Western Region Cultural Centre stated that on the second day of the festival, Saturday, the unique collaboration between Jaipur’s violinist Gulzar Hussain and the esteemed Dilruba player Mohammad Umar will be a special treat for music lovers. Umar is one of the few skilled Dilruba players in the country, and his performance is expected to provide a remarkable experience for discerning audiences. Gulzar Hussain, who has collaborated with several renowned singers, including Anup Jalota and Bollywood’s Ravindra Upadhyay, has won the hearts of music enthusiasts both nationally and internationally with his captivating performances. Their collaboration at the festival is set to resonate deeply with the audience.
On the same day, the world-renowned Odissi dancer Kavita Dwivedi will mesmerize the audience with her performance. Director Khan highlighted that Kavita, who has received numerous prestigious awards at both national and international levels, has been showcasing her exceptional dance skills for over three decades. Her Odissi performances are marked by impressive acting styles, innovative choreography, and a profound intellectual understanding of art. She has skillfully integrated themes of liberation, identity, compassion, and spiritual peace into her presentations, reflecting modern contexts. Kavita’s fame is evident from her appearances on international media platforms such as Discovery Channel (Living Asia), CNN, and Asianet, where her artistic journey has gained widespread recognition. Her performances have been featured on channels in China and Milan as well.
