Udaipur, April 7: In a significant breakthrough in a major theft case at a jeweller’s shop in the Kurabad police station area, authorities have recovered 57 kilos of silver so far. Following the recent arrests of suspects, an additional 27 kilos of silver was seized, while an earlier recovery of 30 kilos had already been made. The high-profile heist involved six criminals who stole 100 kilos of silver and 200 grams of gold.
According to police, approximately 43 kilos of silver are still unaccounted for. Three suspects remain at large, and efforts to locate them are ongoing. The police team is conducting raids at potential hideouts and is optimistic about apprehending the fugitives soon.
Investigations revealed that the thieves executed the crime with remarkable cunning. To conceal their identities, they wore women’s clothing and conducted reconnaissance during the day, targeting deserted shops or homes at night.
Interestingly, the suspects did not use mobile phones for communication. Instead, they employed coded words resembling bird calls to converse with one another. After the crime, they discarded the CCTV hard drive and a motorcycle into a well, both of which have since been recovered by the police. The theft occurred on the night of March 15 at Mohit Jewellers in Sadar Bazaar, while the shop owner was in Udaipur and the tenants residing above were also away, allowing the criminals to carry out their plan.
