
Pratapgarh, May 18: A tragic road accident occurred late Saturday night on National Highway-56 in the Dharmotar police station area, resulting in the deaths of three young men. A speeding trailer collided violently with two motorcycles, causing the riders to be thrown approximately 30 feet away, leading to their immediate deaths. Following the incident, the trailer driver fled the scene but was later apprehended by police during a blockade.
Speeding Causes Fatalities
The accident took place near Sevra village, where eyewitnesses reported that the trailer was being driven recklessly at high speed. The highway was filled with cries and panic following the collision. Dharmotar police station officer Ghisu Lal arrived at the scene with a police team and transported the bodies to the district hospital’s mortuary using private vehicles.
Identification of the Victims
The police identified the deceased through their Aadhaar cards. One of the victims, Raju (35), son of Hakuru, was a resident of Pipli Kheda Tiknia, Pratapgarh. The other two, Akhlaq (29), son of Hajjan, and Abbas (30), were residents of Jagpura, Rajsamand, and were riding on the second motorcycle. The police initiated a blockade across the district, leading to the arrest of the trailer driver by the Chhoti Sadri police.
Families Devastated
Raju was the sole breadwinner for his family, which includes five daughters and one son. The news of the accident has plunged his family into mourning. Meanwhile, Abbas and Akhlaq were engaged in wood cutting and had come to Pratapgarh for work. They were returning home late at night when the tragedy struck. The police have stated that the bodies will be handed over to the families after the post-mortem on Sunday.
