The much-anticipated seventh edition of the “Mewar Tourism Cup 2026” was inaugurated on Thursday at the Field Club ground in Udaipur. The tournament will run until April 5, featuring day-night matches under bright lights. In the opening match, Uday Vilas Hotel triumphed over Parallel Hotel by seven wickets.
In their innings, Parallel Hotel set a target of 137 runs in 20 overs, with Prakash Meena scoring an unbeaten 39 and O.P. Jangid contributing 23 runs. Uday Vilas responded effectively, reaching the target with four balls to spare, thanks to a stellar performance from Shubham Singh, who scored an impressive unbeaten half-century of 53 runs. Sawan Mishra also played a crucial role with 35 runs. Shubham Singh was awarded the Man of the Match for his outstanding batting.
In the second match, Hotel Lekand defeated Radisson Blue Hotel by eight wickets. Batting first, Radisson Blue was bowled out for just 90 runs in 16.4 overs. Jyotish Bhatt from Lekand showcased exceptional bowling, taking four wickets, while Mohammad Idris and Vicky Kumar claimed two wickets each. Lekand chased down the target in just 9.5 overs, with Ravi Sugrwal scoring an unbeaten 31 and Hemendra adding 26 runs. Jyotish Bhatt was named Man of the Match for his lethal bowling performance.
Event Secretary Yaduraj Singh Krishnawat stated that the tournament features ten major hotel teams from the tourism and hospitality industry, along with four additional teams. Notable hotel groups participating include Taj, Oberoi, Aurika, Radisson, ITC, Fairmont, Parallel, Lekand, Trident, and Leela, along with teams from MTC, RTC, and Events.
The primary objective of the Mewar Tourism Cup is to bring together all stakeholders from the tourism sector on a single platform to promote coordination, camaraderie, sportsmanship, and better relationships within the industry. The competition aims to be more than just a cricket tournament; it will also celebrate unity, collaboration, and positive relations among professionals in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
