Udaipur Municipal Commissioner Inspects Pahadi Bus Stand Shelter

New Delhi: Udaipur Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Khanna conducted a surprise inspection late at night at the shelter operated by the municipal corporation near Pahadi Bus Stand and Lov Kush Stadium. He directed that the existing facilities, including additional beds, be maintained as they are. The commissioner also instructed officials to ensure that no person sleeps on the footpath around the shelter, emphasizing strict arrangements to prevent this.

Commissioner Khanna stated that the inspection was carried out to assess the arrangements at the shelters run by the municipal corporation, especially considering the ongoing cold wave. Special night stay facilities have been made available for workers and all needy people to protect them from the harsh cold. During the inspection, all arrangements were found satisfactory, though instructions were given to improve wherever necessary. The commissioner reviewed the availability of drinking water campers, television, blankets, beds, heaters, and other facilities, and ordered that these amenities be kept in their current condition.

Feedback from Needy Individuals

The commissioner personally interacted with the workers resting at the shelter to inquire about the facilities. He confirmed that no charges are being taken for accommodation and checked on the arrangements for drinking water and other necessities.

Additional Beds Arranged

Commissioner Khanna instructed the managing agency to arrange extra beds and blankets at the shelter during the winter to ensure that no one faces difficulties at night. He obtained detailed information regarding the record and availability of all facilities and directed that the current status be maintained.

Appeal to Citizens

The municipal commissioner appealed to the city residents to inform any needy person sleeping on footpaths about the nearest shelter. This will help them benefit from the facilities provided by the municipal corporation and protect them from the cold wave. The corporation has launched awareness campaigns to ensure that no one sleeps on footpaths during the cold nights.

Shelters Operated at Seven Locations

According to Commissioner Khanna, shelters for workers and needy persons are being operated at seven locations in the city. These include Guru Govind Singh School, Chetak Circle near Pahadi Bus Stand, Sajjan Nagar Mallah Talai, Pratap Nagar, Udiya Pol, Govardhanvilas Chungi Naka, and the Reti Stand area.
