Udaipur is set to receive a significant digital health boost ahead of World Cancer Day 2026 with the launch of a special digital health app accessible via QR code. This app is not an ordinary mobile application but an advanced Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) designed to promote early disease detection and prevention before treatment begins.
The app has been developed keeping in mind the lifestyle, local environment, key industries such as the marble sector and mining, and prevalent diseases in Udaipur and its surrounding areas. Senior oncologist and head of the Radiation Oncology Department at RNT Medical College, Dr Narendra Rathore, has been instrumental in creating this app.
Focus on Prevention, Not Just Treatment
People often visit doctors only when diseases have reached an advanced stage. This app aims to change that mindset. Using a Community Based Assessment Checklist (CBAC), it evaluates whether a person who appears healthy may still be at risk of serious conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, or cancer in the future. By answering simple questions, users receive an immediate risk assessment, along with clear advice on necessary tests, lifestyle changes, and precautions.
Special Assessment for Marble and Mine Workers
Since many workers in the Udaipur area are employed in marble factories and mines, they face the risk of silicosis, a severe lung disease caused by silica dust exposure. The app includes a dedicated lung assessment system for these workers to help identify lung problems at an early stage, enabling timely treatment.
Focus on Rural Women’s Health
In rural regions, many women still cook on stoves using wood, dung, or coal, exposing themselves to harmful smoke that damages the lungs over time. This app provides these women with simple and accurate information regarding lung health checks, risk levels, and necessary precautions.
Effective Early Cancer Detection
The app places special emphasis on early cancer detection to make treatment easier and more successful. For example, it advises immediate consultation with a doctor if tobacco, gutkha, or betel nut users notice white or red patches inside the mouth.
Women’s Health Screening
It assesses risks for cervical and breast cancer in women and recommends timely screening in line with government guidelines.
Completely Secure, Confidential, and Offline Functionality
A key feature of this app is that no personal or medical data is uploaded to any server; all data remains securely stored on the user’s mobile device. It also functions without internet connectivity, allowing healthcare workers like ASHAs and ANMs in remote villages to perform screenings using tablets.
Professional Medical Reports for Doctors
The app generates a professional PDF medical report containing medical terminology, which can be shared with doctors via WhatsApp. This helps doctors quickly understand the patient’s condition and begin treatment promptly.
Guideline-Based Technology, Not Guesswork
This app does not rely on AI chatbots or assumption-based systems. Instead, it is built following national and international medical guidelines, ensuring users receive reliable, consistent, and accurate advice.
Simple QR Code Access for Health Screening
Users only need to scan a QR code, fill in basic details, and instantly receive their health score, disease risk, and further recommendations. This initiative is expected to give Udaipur a new identity at the state level in digital health and cancer prevention ahead of World Cancer Day.
This digital health initiative marks a visionary step in healthcare by alerting people before diseases develop rather than after. With QR code access and offline capabilities, it will effectively reach not only urban but also rural populations. Such technology promises to strengthen public health foundations in the future.
