Man Arrested for Spreading AI-Generated Fake Video of PM Modi

Udaipur, February 25: In a significant development, the TD police station has arrested an individual for circulating a fake video generated by artificial intelligence (AI) on social media. The accused is alleged to have spread misinformation and attempted to tarnish the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi through this AI-generated content.

Following directives from District Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal, strict action has been ordered against those using AI-generated fake videos, photos, and audio to commit crimes or create confusion in society. Under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Gopal Swaroop Mewada and Circle Officer (Girva) Gopal Chandel, a team led by Station House Officer Devendra Singh (TD police station) and Cyber Expert Sub-Inspector Pheliram (Jhadol police station) conducted a technical analysis that led to the arrest.

The investigation revealed that the accused, Ramchandra, son of Keshulal, a resident of Dhawadi Talai, Jawar, Udaipur district, had disseminated the AI-generated fake video on social media. The police have registered a case against him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, 2023, including sections 318(4), 319(2), and 352, as well as under sections 66C and 66D of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008.
