Udaipur witnessed a foot march organised by the Congress party to raise awareness about saving the Aravalli mountain range. The rally, launched from the Nagar Nigam premises at Town Hall, saw active participation from Congress workers across both urban and rural areas of the district.
City Congress President Fateh Singh Rathore and Rural Congress President Raghuvir Singh Meena led the procession. The march passed through Ashwani Bazaar, Hathipol Chowk, and proceeded towards Mohta Park near Chetak Circle. Alongside block presidents, district and block office bearers, former MLAs, representatives, and activists also joined the event.
At Mohta Park, Raghuvir Singh Meena addressed the crowd, expressing concern over ongoing attacks on the Aravalli hills. He criticised the BJP government’s policies, stating they have exposed the party’s intentions and governance failures. Meena said the Aravalli range is not only suffering from illegal mining but also from the lack of protective measures by the current government.
He urged everyone to unite and put pressure on both the central and state governments through public awareness campaigns. Meena emphasised the need for strong advocacy in the Supreme Court to ensure the preservation of the Aravalli hills, reflecting the collective voice of the nation.
Fateh Singh Rathore highlighted the sacredness of the Aravalli peaks, describing them as the roots of civilisation, a symbol of faith, and a vital shield for future generations. He noted that the Aravalli has historically stopped desertification, preserved water sources, and maintained ecological balance for centuries.
Rathore stressed that the struggle to protect Aravalli is not limited to a single day, march, individual, or organisation, but a continuous collective responsibility.
The rally included prominent leaders such as former MLAs Trilok Purbia and Preeti Shaktawat, PCC Vice President Suresh Shrimali, PCC General Secretary Lal Singh Jhala, former ministers Dr Mangilal Garasiya and Jagdish Raj Shrimali, PCC Secretary Dinesh Shrimali, MLA candidate Vivek Katara, former MLA Sajjan Katara, PCC member Ram Lal Gayri, professor Dariyav Singh Chundawat, Udaipur Rural District Organisation General Secretary Gajendra Kothari, former deputy district head Laxmi Narayan Pandya, spokesperson Dr Sanjeev Rajpurohit, city spokesperson Pankaj Paliwal, Dr Kaushal Nagda, block presidents Ram Singh Chadana and Ajay Singh, and women Congress leaders Najma Mewafrosh and Seema Pancholi.
